1. This is a subject with a ton of information but I will try to make this as easy as possible.

   The newest line of processors from Intel is known as the Core i Line. It currently consists of Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 chips.

   Core i7 is a Quad Core processor line. It is Intel’s top of the line processor series. It has many features including: Hyper Threading, Enhanced Intel Speed Step, and Turbo Boost. These are all technologies to help greatly improve processor performance.

   Core i5 is a Dual Core processor line. It is Intel’s mid-range processor series. It has many of the same features as the i7s including: Hyper Threading, Enhanced Intel Speed Step, and Turbo Boost. In addition to these features many Core i5s also include an integrated graphics processor on the die. This processor is not great but it will suffice for several application including video and movies. It is not a guarantee for HD video though.

   Core i3 is also a Dual Core processor line. It is Intel’s lower-end processor line. It also includes Hyper Threading and Enhanced Intel Speed Step. But it does not include Turbo Boost. The i3 Line also includes an integrated graphics chip but it suffers the same lack of performance as the i5s.

   Definitions:
   Hyper Threading: Letting one processor core run 2 threads at the same time. Almost making a single act as two.

   Enhanced Intel Speed Step: A feature that will adjust processor speed based on the current performance needs.

   Turbo Boost: One of Intel’s newest advances. It will automatically over clock the processor above it rated speed (for example 2.66GHz to 3.0GHz) to boost performance in single threaded applications.

   Added Note:
   Even though the integrated graphics processor might not be the best, many computer manufacturers still include a dedicated graphics processor that will be much faster. To be sure just check the specs for one.
