I have found it better too buy locally in case you need service you may pay a little more but worth not having too find and pay someone to repair it.

i havent bought one, but in general refurbished products are ones that people have bought opened the box and then changed their mind, so because the box has been opened they cant be sold as new, so the chnaces are it will be in fine condition!!

if i were going to get a laptop, i would invest in something the is at least halfway decent. generally those laptops are running windows xp, which is a decent operating system… but it is almost 10 years old. also, they generally have the memory equivalent of an ipod, so you won’t be able to store many pictures.
If i were you, i would save up for a nicer laptop!

The next is not on their website, but is the same but with a webcam built in, 2gb of ram and a 1.8ghz processor. Its also £100 more
Basically is it worth the extra hundred and will it make that much difference. Also if i want to play games (half life 2 etc)does it matter that the graphics card is shared, and will the spec of the processor etc make up for this? Do i need the extra gb of ram?

For a windows vista machine, I’d definately suggest having the extra RAM. And think about it: You’re probably going to use this laptop for a long time, and probably quite often. Isn’t it worth it to spend more money now that will benefit you for countless hours over the next couple years?
If you can though, I’d drop the webcam. Laptop webcams aren’t always the snazziest and can be a bit pricey.

Well, it depends on the purpose you are planning to use it for.
In general, I would recommend a popular brand like IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell or Apple.
In these cases you are on the good side on issues like reliability, quality and maybe rest warranty, since those vendors have good service, at least here in Europe. Another point is that these machines do not drop that much in price the moment you purchase them, meaning you could resell it and still be able to buy something else with the money

Best Buy has great deals on laptops that are usually several hundred dollars of on Black Friday.
However, here’s the kicker. You need to be at the store at probably 9pm the night before in order to get a good spot in line, or the good ones will be gone.

I have had a netbook for about a year and a half and it’s almost completely unusable at this point. I’m not willing to get it fixed as it was cheap to begin with, and so I’m looking for a new computer.
I’d prefer to get a full size laptop, not a netbook at this point, though they are cheaper. And when I say budget, I mean $ 300-$ 450 max.

If you are looking for the least expensive laptop, newegg.com is a good place. If you have a specific laptop in mind, I would suggest using a price comparison website, like shopzilla.com or pricegrabber.com to compare prices at stores. Remember that shipping may or may not be included. Acer is making some inexpensive laptops, so you might try searching for that brand.
