I have a docking station, a monitor, keyboard and laptop. I connected the monitor on the laptop docking station. Now, how do I make it work with just the separate monitor and separate keyboard and using the laptop just as a regular CPU. I cannot fold close the laptop without putting it to sleep mode.

Sorry I’m afraid to say I don’t know the answer you’re looking for and I am also pondering the subject as I’m planning on using my Macbook as a stand alone CPU as well. Though I have a question for you,how did you connect the monitor to the laptop? Did you use some sort of adapter? Or did your laptop have the port needed as is?

I apologize to reply to your question with a question, I’m pretty sure you can find it with effortless research online.

So I saw a small Acer Laptop in CURRYS/DIXONS today basically it really tiny and had an 8BG harddrive with 548ish ram. It costs £199 or £249 with Windows installed on it

Would it be suitable/cool” for my 15 y/o daughter to have this Laptop

All she does is log onto MSN, Bebo, and thats about it………

But Obviously I don’t want her to be stuck with an “uncool laptop” is this one ok?

It wont be powerful enough for games. But laptops aren’t made for gaming.
It’s perfect for surfing the internet, writing, watching movies, listening to music and other things that don’t require a strong hardware.
Don’t forget to look after the battery life. Ask for a good one.

Your daughter would like it I think. I highly recommend it.

I want to know if the price of a 2nd hand offer is reasonable.

It’s 33%/year depreciation for tax value. But I will say

1 year old pay 50% of original value
2 year old pay 35% of original value
3 year recycle it, you can get brand new computer for 30% of the value it was 3 years ago.

Question by Meh: Dream laptop… where can I find?
Here are the specs that I’m looking for, but all the laptop search/finder/etc. websites I’ve been to point me to Alienware computers, which are not the paragons of durability I’m looking for. Any help would be appreciated:

Fully solid state drive
Intel Dual Core processor
2 – 2.5 Ghz memory (RAM)
Nvidia 256Mb dedicated graphics card
120 Gig+ Hard Drive
15-17″ wide screen
3.5 – 7 pounds

Strong enough to last 6-8 years, spending 3-4 days/week in a backpack… I have a Thinkpad R32 that managed this last component, but none of the others:)

Sony or Toshiba. I’ll give you a little hint. I advise your order from a company or shop that’s actually located in Japan.. America as we all know like to save money and out source to China. Alot of laptops will actually state that they’re made in Chine.

I want to be the supplier after I fix them. I don’t want to buy from a used dealer but probably from small to large companies or private deals and am not sure who would have them.

last 1 i refurbished, i got parts from ebay watch the shipping charges though
